On the subject of temperatures, yesterday morning was the coldest July morning that I have ever experienced....cant remember feeling so cold in the warmest time of the year. Usually one has to wait until mid September to have single digits on the way to work in the far south of England.

Fairly confident that August will be somewhat warmer than average, maybe up to 1.5c warmer than average in the south.

16.3C to the 4th

http://www.metoffice..._info_mean.html

Yesterday was 17.0C. Minimum today is 11.3C while maxima look like being a little under 20C, so a drop back to 16.2C tomorrow looks likely.

After that, the 06z GFS has the CET at

16.1C to the 6th (15.5)

16.0C to the 7th (15.3)

16.1C to the 8th (17.0)

16.4C to the 9th (18.4)

16.7C to the 10th(19.2)

16.8C to the 11th (18.0)

16.9C to the 12th (18.7)

Going by BornFromTheVoid's trend we could have an August CET greater than 17C by mid-month. That will put us on target for the warmest August since 2004 or even 2003.

I did say August would be our warmest month this year, but only just ousting July... mmm beginning to think it will come in appreciably higher than July but nothing exceptional, we shall see..

Some warm days ahead should push us into the 17's by next week I imagine.

16C to the 6th.

Not quite so sure that we will see a high CET myself as the outook from Sunday looks unsettled even if minima are high, not as low as i predicted but still a tough call to beat July 2010.
