Thanks Mr Data for the footage. Particularly enjoyed seeing the forecasts from 21-24 Feb 94, an often forgotten period. Here we struck lucky with a foot of snow, thanks to the front stalling directly over us. Its been a long time since a front has moved up from the south and stalled directly over us only to have to retreat southwards but then another low quickly moves NE, giving further snow. Feb 94 was along with Feb 91, Dec 95 and Feb 96 one of the snowiest months of the 90's. It was an interesting month synoptic wise with the atlantic and continent in a real tug of war with us in the middle.

I can't believe I have now uploaded old BBC weather forecasts that span a decade. When I first started this, 20 years ago!, it was purely research, to gauge how accurate the forecasts were and to reminisce notable weather events. I didn't think I would be uploading them onto some video site for the wider public to view, two decades later. I haven't heard of the Internet back in January 1993 and YouTube certainly didnt exist. I think I have uploaded over 100 hours in length of old BBC weather forecasts and news event meteorologically and astronomically related. I didn't capture forecasts for every single date but I captured most of them. 1995 is my favourite year out of them all, it was packed full of interest with the highlight being that summer and getting a decent winter that followed after the less impressive efforts of recent times. It seems to be reverse now! More impressive winters and less impressive summers.

Other gems include the cold autumn of 1993, the thundery summer of 1994, how warm November 1994 was, 1995, the winter of 1995-96, the cold May of 1996, hot August 1997, how bad the winters of 1997-98 to 1999-00 were for cold and snow lovers, February 1998, April 1998, washout autumn of 2000, the late December 2000 snowfalls, the late February 2001 snowfalls.

I have still about 8 years left to upload, I have uploaded snippets from 2003 such as that August heatwave, already but sadly I lost some from spring 2006 and late 2006 into early 2007.

Thinking about it now, I wish I had started doing this earlier so I would have captured 1990, 1991 etc as well. Hopefully, some gems from this period will crop up, soon.
