Just my luck to be having a W-SW facing window, had the curtains open at the time (with lights dimmed) but from the sounds of it and doing a rough triangulation the meteor may have literally gone straight over my head search.gif Didn't hear/see anything of significance however.

The Eve Of The War

Journalist: No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space. No one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us.

At midnight on the twelfth of August, a huge mass of luminous gas erupted from Mars and sped towards Earth. Across two hundred million miles of void, invisibly hurtling towards us were the first of the missiles that were to bring so much calamity to Earth. As I watched, there was another jet of gas. It was another missile starting on its way.

And that’s how it was for the next ten nights. A flare, spurting out from Mars – bright green, drawing a green mist behind it – a beautiful, but somehow disturbing sight. Ogilvy the astronomer, assured me we were in no danger. He was convinced that there could be no living thing on that remote forbidding planet.....

Behave, you'll have Backtrack pooping himself....lol

Was sat here and looked up out of the window and saw a bright green/white light with a stream of sparks behind it. I thought the local kids were up on the park playing with fireworks. Never thought anything of it until my wife said there was a story on Beeb news.

Funny you mentioned two rumbles as I heard something similar before a MAN inbound came overhead, there's also a ongoing RAF exercise I attributed this 'sound' with and now putting two & two together...makes me think. If it was a MAN inbound then I bet those pilots @3500ft got a front-row view.

just to add to John Pike's post on the previous page....check the link if you haven't already....a very similar incident last night over central northern England....footage is up on youtube......I'm going to have a butchers at some astronomy sites to see if these incidents are tied in with any 'on schedule' periodic meteor showers
