Amusingly, with the best weather of the week to come later, we actually have the worst weather of the week so far with the heaviest rain of the last 6 days over the last few hours rather than annoying drizzle!

Much cooler this morning and windy from the NE, 7.1c and dropping slowly as it has been since around midday yesterday.

BBC website forecast for today from yesterday evening: A bright, clear but generally breezy day. Wintry showers affecting coastal counties in the north and east, but mainly dry with plenty of sunshine elsewhere. Feeling noticeably cold.

In reality, colder - yes, breezy - yes, but no brightness and unforecasted rain on and off all day. BBC Radio 5 morning forecast with promise of "rain in far south soon clearing" did little to fix the inaccuracy, with rain still falling well into the evening. Computer says poor short range forecast again.
