And the start of December 08 was on the cold side as well.

And the start of December 08 was on the cold side as well.

I do remember it being a bit nippy as i had just moved to salford but i did'nt really get back into winter weather watching until feb 09 so the fact that i got no snow, coupled with being in a newly built warm block meant it went unoticed by me really.

The majority of the time trains cope fine with snow.

The far bigger problem for them is any sub-zero temperatures which can freeze signals or even train parts themselves.

Many thanks! :) TBH today's runs suggest any deep cold or snow should be arriving a little later now.

I've just posted up int he storm reports thread about a possible ball lightning incident last night around Grizedale forest.

My dad witnessed the very bright flash and tremendous boom, and a number of the locals witnessed it, and some reported seeing it like a ball shoot across the sky.

Anyone else see/hear of this?

Genuinely can't see Thornaby on Tees getting a single snowflake from this upcoming cold spell heading our way next week blum.gif

However I can certainly see Alta getting his 'inches' and 'millimetres' mixed up as he often does when he drops his trousers rofl.gif

Can see Newcastle getting sleet and refusing to turn to snow while down in good old Thornaby we have a blizzard with a ft of snow laying :p would that even be possible?! :')
