I'm fairly confident that December will be below average but by how much is the question! However, after getting some wishy washy cold next week, there are chances of some more significant cold later in the month and with not much in the way of mild in the outlook, I will go for a cold 2.8C please and wetter than average.

3.6c please.

A month characterized with transient but potent Northerly spells with short milder periods, cold spell around Christmas towards new year (mainly settled) with severe frosts bringing the CET down from average to 3.6c

For many year we thought that that winter months of sub 3c were not possible anymore, but that was quashed, however despite this barrier being broken I still think it is a difficult to get months this cold. I do think that December will be colder than average, and I will hedge my bets and go for.

3.5

Well here we go since my last successful 'guesses' of last winter - cool to cold start and then HP becoming more dominant from mid-month and maybe somewhat milder nearer xmas, not sure if there will any significant cold spell though so I shall go for a cool 4.3c (TimmyH last winter)

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
