It certainly feels like a comfort food sort of an evening here, I wouldn't mind a shot of honey rum either as I seem to be getting a head cold...I'm supposed to be on the wagon (it's week 2) but it wouldn't count if it's for medicinal purposes would it ?

Have a go at this. Guaranteed to put hairs on your chest, an old recipe but effective.

  • large measure of brandy or rum
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • ¼ lemon
  • 175ml boiling water
  • Whole clove

Just mix them all together in a mug. Better than Lemsip!

Here's the first of I hope to many model summaries that I will be doing as we approach and enter winter on this thread. I've done my best to make them centric to East Anglia/South East of England. Please leave any feedback. Thankyou! smile.png

Thanks Ben. I'm sure your region specific forecasts will be much appreciated!

Hi all, don't venture in here much - but thought I'd stick my head in. 12C here now - which is warmer than it has been all day!

Been rather benign the weather since the beginning of the month, would be nice to see unstable and showery polar martime air return or a good wind storm.

Evening all. Today was absolutely dire here. Dull dark and gloomy for most of the day. Has anyone seen the photo's of sunrise over the Thames in The Daily Mail ? Well worth a look

Blimey it's warm tonight. Still 11.6c here. Twice as warm as this time yesterday.

Thanks for the forecast Ben, its clear and easy to understand, with some charts to elaborate your points. Fantastic.

And great photos again Steve, I don't know whether to be jealous of you or Coast for where you live. Perhaps I could summer on the south coast and winter in Essex. :)

That sounds like a great idea Chilly Milly - Steve's sunrises have certainly made me realise I need to make more effort to chase the dawn !

Channel low anyone

If anyone want to see a decent set of charts look at the 18z run

Can't wait until thursday

I still think the models are struggling with the eastern block

Look at fax chart for friday

PPVM89.gif?31415

Last night it showed block to our east retreated back to our east

Now you can see we are clearly in that block

These blocks can stick around for a while

Will post saturday up soon

Yep, the pub run has thrown up a stonker tonight. Shame it's out in FI but this is what winter on NW is all about!

Certainly with alot of the model output recently starting to become boring for us 'coldies' searching for cold... Tonight has just gave hope and a few smiles. I love seeing these synoptics showing up, but just as likely to go again on the 00z..

Saturdays fax chart shows block to our east pushed to our east with heavy rain piling in from the west. I bet this looks different tomorrow.

GFS goes with rain moving in again on Friday afternoon and lasting into first thing Saturday, same as the weekend just gone. Seems to me at this stage, another Rinse & Repeat pattern..
