I actually like the 23 hour Hobart to London trip and the brief airport stops along the way ( Melbourne, Singapore, UAE )...adds to the journey's excitement, sense of real globetrotting.

I suppose it's fine so long as you don't get stuck next to/near (as in my own UK - Singapore - Oz - Bangkok - UK experience) 1) a man who didn't appear to have cleaned his teeth for several weeks, 2) a 3-year-old who'd discovered the joy of lightswitches much to the rage of his baby brother who the constant light-flicking prevented sleeping and the missionary sitting next to me who decided I might be open to conversion when all I wanted to do was sleep, 3) a pair of newly weds who should have got a room and 4) a chap in the aisle seat who'd taken a sleeping tablet so wouldn't wake up but was too fat to climb over to get to the bathroom. I'd welcome a flight that quick to Sydney if I was in a position to go back but how much gas might that thing guzzle?
