massive halo!

Is it going to snow though Steve?

6-7am? Pleased to see the front is moving South ahead of schedule, what ever is left of the PPN will be moving over very cold air, although DP's will be rising by then still better than arriving in the afternoon I'd say.

Hi snowray,

Have you seen this? .....

http://www.britishweatherservices.co.uk/weather-alerts/weather-alert-warning-sample/

Issued:

0600 hours Saturday 7th January 2012

Regions:

England & Wales (not Cornwall or the coastal fringes)

Period:

0001 – 1800 hours Sunday 8th January 2012

Main Impacting Weather Elements:

Snow & Ice

Detail:

As temperatures drop this evening, a band of significant precipitation will move in from the Atlantic. As it does so, it will readily turn to snow as it travels west to east across England and Wales. Away from the slightly milder coastal fringes and Cornwall (Bodmin Moor apart); anything between 5 and 10cm of snow can be expected, with some prone areas in the west and hillier parts of central/eastern parts seeing 20cm or so. In the south, the snow will be a temporary affair, as milder air overtakes the cold – but all areas can expect dangerous conditions in the overnight and through much of Sunday, before the rain/snow mix moves out into the North Sea later on Sunday.

It's nice to take a break from the model thread for a while haha! If you take prozac I think you'd just about be OK, but otherwise, don't bother lol!

Quite icy apparently out there tonight, the roads weren't that bad when I went earlier but the pavements could be.

Hardly expecting anything, if anything at all later this morning (wrt wintry stuff).

Good morning to you all,

-1.5c atm,frosty.

That precip will be over the sea before it gets here i think, may just clip.

Wunderground says a 60% chance of snow today for my village?

May clip the n of ea.

Well we will being going to choose our crimbo tree tommorow.

Hubby always saves any little bits of scrap metal over the year for the tree, dont know why just started doing it one year and its become a bit of a tradition.

He weighed it in yesterday and got £35 ,which is enough for a nice 5 ft non drop.

Have a great day everybody xx

Morning, even if that precip were to make it across the region it will be of rain.

Northern England thread reporting rain so we have no chance

Off to buy the Christmas tree today :-) at least the weather is more festive instead of the pi**ing rain

Yellow Warning of Ice for London & South East England :

Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Greater London, Oxfordshire, Medway, Kent, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough & Reading

Yellow Warning of Ice for East of England : Cambridgeshire,

Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Peterborough, Bedford, Central Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Luton, Southend-on-Sea & Thurrock

Valid from 1500 Fri 30 Nov to 1200 Sat 01 Dec

Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight across many parts of England and Wales. Due to the recent wet weather there is an increased risk of icy patches, even on roads that have been treated with salt, where water run off/seepage may wash off any earlier salt treatment.

The public should be aware of the risk of ice on roads and pavements.
