Surprise early season snowfalls for NW England

Very surprised to wake up on the morning on the 4th of November 1998 to see wet snow falling in my neck of the woods. It was the earliest season snowfall I had seen at the time, this was later surpassed when I saw snow on the 30th October 2000. It was not a prelude to a cold, snowy winter, however.
