Is that band of precip currently spreading in a South East direction down the country mainly rain or snow?

I am currently near Cambridge with snow still on the ground, below freezing with a lot of precip coming. Is there a chance of a massive upgrade to snow this evening?

After driving rain/sleet and strong winds on the M56 on the way home from work (making for difficult driving conditions), followed by a calmer period, we have just had two intense hail showers here moving in from the Irish Sea. A wild end to the day for sure! As I type another sharp shower arrives, though this one just looks like rain.

At work in Birchwood earlier today we had a short snow flurry ahead of the rain around lunchtime.
