South Yorkshire will develop its own "snow dome" with snow showers reflected away to the N, W, E and S.

oh mint i really cant wait for that then, hahaha

Just looking at the radar and that precipitation to the north is gaining intensity and expanding, so let's hope it will deliver some snowfall later on.

Not going to get up, yet, but still pretty wet out there and the station on top the hill is now reporting 0.7c, so has dropped 1.2c since its max sometime after midnight. Interesting.

Just looked out the window and no real signs of sleetiness but still a snow cover about 80/90%, but looking a bit thin now.

Just checked and the station is now at 0.5 and reporting snowfall, very interesting. It's about 90m higher than here.

Sleeting heavily here but has a lot more snow in it than yesterdays high elevation event only. Next week looks very promising - and need these next 4 / 5 days to dry the ground out.

Morning all

We have steady snow here in South Kyme, however we have had so much rain overnight its not settling at all. The main issue in the area appears to be ice. Horncastle is a particular problem with traffic reports saying ice is a issue on the main road through the town. Anyone out and about take care as the rain clears and the cold sets in.

Having ventured a little further outside, its become apparent any surface that's not grass is like a skating rink..just watched a passer by slip over.

Sleet and rain all the way last night.

I was that busy looking for snow in the forecast i didn't notice how windy it was going to be! Very stormy, especially squally in the showers.

The 8mm's overnight has washed all our snowcover now with a few patches left over on the Wolds.

Temp 5.3C, Dew Point 5.1C.

Some showers moving west from the North Sea on the other side of the line of ppn stretching south. Wondering if they're going to break right through and affect land or merge and head south...

Showers would be of rain anyway but could lead to a considerable ice risk tonight/tomorrow morning.

Beautiful clear blue sky, covering of snow still intact out of the sun. Had some real fun and games last night though, snow was heavy for a time early evening, I passed numerous cars stuck on various hills, (just occasionally keeping my old M reg Toyota 4wd going has it's advantages !).

It really hasn't stopped raining all day. Such a narrow band of PPN sat over us deciding which way to go! Recorded 22mm's since yesterday and 42mm's all week. Not bad to say the bulk of that was snow!

Temp 5.2C.

That's surprising Paul, I've been to Malton today, and mostly it was sunny.

Quite treacherous over the moors as roads looked clear but salt was washed off in parts and under the clear skies there was patches of black ice.

Still good snow cover above about 1000feet.

It seems to have been drifting a fair bit late yesterday when it became windy.

Interesting to see considerable expanses of water gleaming in the sun across Ryedale - visible from the Blakey road.

On reaching the new lake areas they are mostly frozen over.

Spent the afternoon in the North York Moors, plenty of snowcover still about, mainly over higher and more sheltered area's. Drove up North from Helmsley towards Stokesley then back across to Pickering. Took a few pic's whilst i Was up there...

Caught a nice rainbow shot on the way to Pickering, the shower ended up being very heavy sleet.

Onto the models, a pretty quiet weekend with regards to cold and snow but Sunday on wards gives some potential for eastern area's with some cold uppers coming in off the North Sea that could spark some convective wintry showers.

Uppers shown to be around -6/7c so it would be marginal towards the coast but higher ground and further inland would most likely see snow. Her's a few charts based on this afternoon's 12z.

Hopefully we will see some upgrades before next week so more of the region will see some white stuff good.gif

Snow Dome! I hope that is good!! :) we had a fantastic 2010 here in Barnsley but before that and last year was poor!
