The Model thread is maddening at the moment. People are saying "look at this chart -snowfest T168" forgetting that they were saying the same thing a week ago.

I need Cheese-Rice's smiling horse to tell me everthing will be alright and I'll be buried up to my neck by wednesday.

Looks like Eastern areas will yet again get the snow, can't see west/south yorkshire getting any snow next week apart apart from over higher ground, possibly a snow to rain event as the mild south westerlys come in, but for me that's pointless.

Oh dear, the MOD thread is in meltdown and it's deserted in here! People must be having a break after another huge let down from the models! Might catch a few wintry showers here next week.

Just found this ace picture taken on Wednesday here in Scarborough. Don't feel i can complain too much when we've had scenes like this on only the first week of winter! smile.png

'1 user reading this topic- Cheese Rice'

lol and folk wonder why I was so against splitting up the regional threads.

Max today of 7.c, quite cold this morning low of 0.c with widespread black-ice. It felt freezing outside, we walked from Headingley to Leeds and thought our hands were going to drop off, turns out it was a rather mild 7.c! Guess that's wind chill for you.

Made a quick exist out of the model thread...

I'm quite sure we aren't done with the high to our NE although it looks like there'll be a temporary breakdown come Thursday that should bring snowfall to all of Yorkshire. After that I'm certain there'll be further threats of North or Easterly outbreaks, such outbreaks showing up in the relatively reliable time-frame, although always the risk of these disappearing nearer the time!

I see a high of 0C forecast for Leeds on Thursday with snow. Highs of 2C, lows of -3C, cold enough to me, and you can bet your lucky stars it will be colder than that at night. clapping.gif

Has the rollercoaster of the MOD thread taken another turn? I feel because of all the excitement in there we are missing any potential in the next few days. The Metoffice still forecasting snow and wintry showers in the text forecast. I understand how poor the GFS is as picking up convective showers so I'm taking their forecast with a pinch of salt. I guess there may be a couple of surprises this week.

I eagerly await the countryfile forecast but would appreciate any other thoughts from someone who knows what they're talking about!

Not to sure what to expect, maybe a couple of surprises over coming week! Like the look of the Met run for end of the week regarding the 'breakdown' smiliz39.gif

Have you not seen Fridays low on the ECM?

Some major snowfall could come from that.

Also the NMM goes for showers pushing into all of Yorkshire from tomorrow onwards without loosing intensity. These should fall as snow away from the coast although I suspect there'll be a notable onshore breeze.

SST are 7/8.c with -5/-6 uppers I'm not sure how the two correlate ie what temperature difference is required to promote convection.

Frequent hail and sleet showers overnight. Kept me awake as the really gusty winds strengthened during the showers and made it really quite stormy.

Seems from the forecast that that's about as exciting as it's going to get this week!

Temp currently 5.4C with a dew point of 1.0C.
