Any snow/rain in the far East Anglia tonight? The radars show something falling from the sky. Any reports from Norfolk?

Woah, patience is a virtue.

The models are steering towards a better outcome at the end of the week but an Easterly is by no means on the cards just yet. Lots to play for though and although we probably won't be looking at the kind of scenario we were all creaming over 48 hrs ago, it's looking like much still to play for.

Could you imagine.

The cold air is pushing back over the UK at 168

Mighty cold air over Europe

Emergency call for John Pike!

In my less than expert opinion, no it's not back on in the short term, but there are now some tentative signs of another crack middle of next week (where have we heard that before). Still, makes for interesting viewing!

I wouldn't be so sure, the Atlantic rules the roost in this country usually and as we all know its very hard to stop that conveyor belt.

Just look how hard the past 5 weeks had been - models all projecting a hefty block and an easterly component to the weather only for the Atlantic to say " I don't think so, I'm the boss"

All that snow in Europe and even Amsterdam - we came so close it's sickening, they have had deep cold with snowcover even now but that still didnt allow it to pull west towards the UK. Hopefully a block can re-establish itself but as just proved the Atlantic is the master.

Not always though. (There's my straw clutch)

No pattern is stronger than another, time and time again we've had Atlantic dominated winters but that's because the Atlantic has been too powerful for any meaningful block to build. On the other hand powerful blocks can build and keep out the Atlantic just as easy, especially in 2010 (there are a lot of other examples) when lows kept smashing into a brick wall and literally smeared themselves around the block, remember cold is far denser than warmer air so in theory a blocking pattern should take longer to erode that a milder pattern.

With all this talk of the semi-legendary, very shy and rarely-spotted Beast from the East, I got thinking about other rhyming visitors to our shores, some more common than others:

The Pest from the West

The Low from Below

The Frantic Atlantic

Bores of the Azores

Bouts of Mania from Scandanavia

Frigid air from over there

Spanish Plume - from Spain, you prune

Polar low - generally, no

and....

Weather Forum, let's not bore'em!

I will post charts later

The charts are overdoing the atlantic as per normal. The so called warm up keeps getting pushed back. The charts are getting to grips that the block to our east is building. The longer this goes on the more likely outcome is the atlantic will not go barging through as was shown 2 days ago. Not sorted yet. But things improving all the time

Back later with fax update.

Amazing snow cover through Europe; just needs to move 200 miles North West then we're in business.

I really wouldn't get too bothered by the snow forecast charts. In my experience, they've never nailed a snow event more than 24 hours out!

How about a game, guess the weather in 7 days time!

No idea about the weather, but I guess we'll all still be here getting excited about a potential easterly at T240!!!!
