I think I have managed to write off the next 7 days in my head.

And I am staying out of the model thread!

Are we going to escape the worst of the wind and gales on Friday?

Thick frost and still foggy here, freezing cold, slipped on way to nursery run so not looking forward to pick up! Lol

Can I just ask and I apologize now if this is beyond daft but cold charts always seem to be in FI and yet the weather for Friday ie mild, wet and windy which was probably seen on the charts the same amount of time away as the potential beast from the east but yet it always seems to be the cold charts that don't come off?

Perhaps I am wrong with that but was just thinking....uh oh!

Have been happy with the single figures we have had and not looking forward to it being mild again and hoping won't last long!

Thanks in advance guys and gals :)

It's only done to spite you AM, the really juicy charts are made up by a team of top rampers at GFS, ECMF, UKMO, GEM etc - it's a conspiracy!

Mornin each. Brrrrrrr, it's a bit chilly in Ippy this morning and the grass is still tinged with frost. :)

Ah well, make the most of it folks as it seems we're back to wet and grotty later.

Have a good day all. :)

Looks like that's the main thing to look forward to Paul:

Can I ask a silly question? Dont feel confident to ask on the model threads. How do we know what the models are showing is any more correct or incorrect then what they showed a week ago. Couldn't they do anouther complete u turn on the next run and cold no go anywhere.

Sorry if it is stupid question. But my gut feeling just can't buy into this mild mushy stuff forecast.

Thanks in advance

Katie

Yes, I wouldn't mind a decent answer to this as it's just un-believable at the moment that we will be getting this milder weather.

I would say that looking at this ensemble run for where I live (simplistic minimum temperature at ground level) there is nothing showing cold here in the shortish term (after the next day and for a few days) So a very high chance of mildish weather ahead.

The ensemble runs for last week always had one or two runs which didn't suggest anything really cold and after about 13th or 14th December, the ensembles scattered, so the confidence in a long lasting cold spell was never that high.

I am in East Grinstead today and there is still a full frost even on the trees. No sunshine due to cloudy conditions. Something is falling out of the sky but I am darned if I can tell what it is. Could be a fine type of graupel.

Sorry, the old charts etc are showing relatively mild for a while, apart from a colder blip in 7 days time. Of course this is all subject to change as these things flip around (TBH they normally do). I guess all we can do is observe the weather, not create or modify it and what's coming, is coming!
