Don't forget the wash streamer. Got 5/6 inches out of that in December 2009! that needs a strong ENE/NNE

Does Hertfordshire count as SE/EA? Sorry I have only lived here for a few years, some websites class it as East of England, others the SE, tbh I have to look it up on a map to know where I am half the time sorry.gif .

Feb 2009 with the Thames streamer was it? We got a big dumping from that in Rickmansworth, doesn't seem from the above posts that typical???

Ian F posted this 30 mins ago in the mad thread.

We have reason for concern Monday, then again Tuesday, and later in week too. UKMO closely on case for potential significant snow events in various parts of country based on combined GM, EC & MOGREPS output.

hi icebox

the fax charts have precipitation showing so they are not dry

the chart i like is tuesday as that has dumping written all over it

people worrying about streamers-don't

there should be plenty of snow to go around

although if you get a streamer

get you skis ready

@Crepuscular ray

How very dare you call the ESE streamer the Dartford dump, lol it makes most the surrounding towns look nice believe it or not! and for the record I'd say we're more a Thames streamer ENE profiting locating ala Feb 09 bingo and then November 10' :-)

Hi John, Yes I agree re Tuesday and as you correctly point out should a streamer set up which is very possible with sst's of I believe 7 degrees and minus 10 uppers, we could expect some serious convection I wouldn't rule a possibility of thundersnow. clapping.gif

Oops. TBH, as far as I remember, none of the significant snowfalls in my neck of the woods in inner-west London have resulted from streamers at all.

Whereabouts are you?

There was a truly impressive thundersnow event here in Notting Hill back in Feb '07 (I think??Could be wrong there, but definitely a February a few years back) which dumped three inches in 20 mins, with fork lightning rampant!

That was truly spectacular!!

Funilly enough CR London especially N/W London can benefit from the Cheshire gap streamer but only of course with a north westerly blowing.

Too right Icebox, but nothing on the scale of what a localised streamer can dump.

Bring on the Thames Streamer Snow machine...drinks.gif

Couldn't agree more, Thames Streamer dumped just over a foot of snow on me in 2010! But then again, in Feb 2009 I got about an inch of snow pellets and spent the night watching it all sail up stream into London!

I'm a couple of miles almost due north of you - top end of Scrubs Lane and right a bit.

I think I was walking falling over on the way home from the nearest station that still had trains running during that one. Nearly as spectacular as the tornado. We got about 6 inches of snow in a few hours, which is almost unheard of here.
