Probably because if the charts verify, the SW looks to benefit for a change rather than the SE.........

Nicely put sir.

On this run, the band of precipitation coming from the SW, has delayed its approach on Friday by a few hours, but when it reaches the UK most of it falls as snow except for the far west..

How far is classed as far southwest?

Think you are ok. Looks more like deepest cornwall, you are a mere hop over the Tamar!

Potential for battleground verifies again on 12z GFS!

This has been suggested for some three days in a row now on the GFS 12z, my god, all it now has to do is to bring to you lucky lot over the next four days.

Saturday looks like a snow - rain event, but for that to happen Friday has to verify.

If Friday doesn't verify, neither will Saturday.

Anyway, all still a good few days away yet anyway. Nice to see the GFS consistent with a snow event for Friday. That'll do for now. Over to the UKMO.

Fridays snow is thre, only for it to be washed away 15.00 midday Saturday on the GFS 12z. As we loose the cold uppers.

Snowy breakdown in 24 hrs it seems.

Temperatures today got a lot higher here than forecast. 4.5C was the daily high. The dusting of snow was washed away by the rain, though I think there may be a severe ice risk tomorrow with temperatures to get below zero overight.

GFS always underestimates a block, I doubt any weather fronts will make it as far east as its currently showing, meaning we stay in the cold air, if I'm right that is.

I think one thing is for sure that anything is possible in a battleground situation. Its not over yet.

This is the feature i believe that could give some precip 1-4cm across parts of our region tonight occuring to 12z nae.

You can see the slight kink in the isobars and a small area of 95% RH at 925.

NAE progs the feature to stay good as it moves down via the isobars direction, GFS phases it out, so worth watching on radar ever few hours to see what its doing.

Some good shower activity before that which would indicate there isnt too much of a cap on the convection.

Wet bulb falling now, should fall by 50m every hr between now an 9pm getting down to 150-200m for some however precip will drag this down to 50-100 if its heavy enough.

Still on for thurs/fri imho.

BTW i didnt get a sausage, bit still lots of chances..:)
