Wow BBC still going with rain sat morning.....

I saw that on BBC local news just now, Peter Cockcroft still saying less cold and turns to rain over weekend! Very odd given the charts.

Not sure what the BBC are seeing?

To me it looks cold right out to the middle of next week. At least.

BBC South-East Weather reported 10cm falling widely, more in usual spots. Graphics showed snow for Friday and Saturday.

T = -3.1

Td = -4.0c

RH = 93%

At the risk of being shouted down - does anyone have any idea how long the cold and snowy spell is likely to last ?

Afraid with elderly and unwell parents in different areas of the country this is all just getting a bit worrying for me.

I would be surprised if the south coast of our region saw rain or sleet on Friday.

No, they're not.

Just watched it, they said snow turning to rain, am not the only one who heard it

As if today couldn't get any better out comes a cracking ECM and Lucy Verasamy on ITV air_kiss.gif

and just to add, any keen gardeners on here, just wondering what to do with my potted bay tree during this spell, keep it outside in a sheltered spot or bring indoors? Any advice welcome smile.png

Bay is really hardy, but if the soil in the pot freezes it can be bad news. Bring it in to be safe.

Must have been a very different forecast to the one I saw. BBC South East didn't mention rain or that it would be getting less cold. Peter Cockroft must have been drunk.

No offence to Ian F on here because he's a fantastic regional forecaster but BBC forecasts in gereal for the next day are utterly useless let alone 2-3 days ago.

Edit: Very bizzare though, main BBC says less cold, London says similar and my local forecast didn't mention rain or anything with regards to warming up.

I was rather sceptical up till this evening, but the current charts are excellent for anyone near the south coast as well. The low undercuts and pulls low temperatures and dewpoints off the continent. If you look at the latest NAE you will see that it actually gets colder through Friday morning and dewpoints are well below zero. That means snowsmile.png

In a sense it is starting to look not too different to the Feb snowfall of last year

Feb last year only gave a dusting for the coast, before rain moved in.
