Is anyone near Clacton, Colchester or Ipswich seeing snow from this yet ??

Fascinating seeing the 3 areas of precip on this map, that main front further west has got a right old clip on, the Block will slow it up but might it be in quicker than 9am in London ??

It's taken it about two hours to get through Cornwall - so, say another four to the smaller front. Bit of a tussle over the Chilterns (90 mins).. Could be in London by 0400?! Seems early?

I'm not sure he will once he reads the posts about him..

Yeah but would be funny wouldn't it. I can see him now putting his surname in to register on here and have the web page returning "If this doesn't say c0ckroft when referring to a bbc weather presenter, then I have maturity issues".

Just came across this while searching info on the correlation between temps and DP. Don't know how reliable it is, maybe one of the more experience members can advise.

As a rule of thumb:

Add together the Dew point and the temperature = A

then if:

A > 7 prob. snow is very small

A=7 prob. snow = 10%

A=6 20%

A=5 30%

A=4 40%

A=3 50%

A=2 60%

A=1 70%

A=0 80% or more

GFS suggesting the snow will hit London around 9am tomorrow morning, then continuous snow until the early hours of Saturday morning - from when it becomes more patchyand light in nature, but light snow perhaps on and off through much of Saturday. Heavy snow perhaps returning from the near continent on Sunday evening.

preventative measures - don't want kids slipping etc.

I see the main front has started it's journey west. It does look like its got some speed behind it. I take it as it collides with the denser cold air it slows down?

Hope not, it needs to head East otherwise it's going to America ;-)

Well for this is going to be a first in god knows how many years. A snow on snow event. Tomorrows snow Saturday's snow and Sunday's if it happens. I reckon someone in this thread could have a foot of snow easily by the end of the weekend.

Big window for a bit of Thames Streamer action from mid morning Saturday right through to Sun...another one to watch once we get tomorrow out the way. May give a top up to the Eastern contingent who miss out on the bigger totals out West tomorrow.
