Sleet here - looks like the coastal influence is being felt up to 10 miles inland, we've got a strong and blustery ESE wind, which is obviously having a moderating effect on temps and dews.

Countryfile forecast on right now. good.gif

Looks like atlantic could break through next weekend but its a long way off and I dont think he was all that confident this is what will happen.

Radar forecast shows snow hitting Leeds at 9pm. Little westward drift though, which is needed for the bulk of it to blow in off the coast.

Forecast radar: http://www.meteorada...=radar-forecast

forget the 'forecast' radars smile.png

when it comes to these types of situations, the only way to go is to watch a realtime radar and extrapolate the PPNs direction from there good.gif

compare the 'forecast' to the real direction - http://www.raintoday.co.uk

direct hit :)

Why is there a line on the radar out to sea where the heaviest precip suddenly ends?

Driven to Skeggy many times with having family living down that way and many times there´s been loads of snow up around Louth but soon as you get within a few miles of Skeg its rain.

Feb last year we done brill here i think was 4/2/11 very heavy snow 2ft drifts in places aswell

Guys & Gals... Looking in the other regional threads earlier, and they were using the Steve Murr - snow intensity index ? Very light here so probably 1 / 10 at the moment..

he did start off with in the first 30 seconds of the forecast by saying ther is a `sniff` of a breakdown.... then ended by saying its a long way off, , as i said earlier from learning on the model forecast thread...a forecasters nightmare... will the block hold or will it collapse is anyones guess...in the mean time lets enjoy what we have and a very interesting week ahead

Heavy snizzle here with a light dusting on the car. Still not 100% certain it will snow here, but if it does, expect road closures around here because it will seriously drift.

Sleety snow here blowing in a very strong wind. Current temperature is around 2 degrees with a dew just below freezing, hopefully if the heavier stuff develops than evaporation cooling might take place otherwise it will be a non event here. A big thaw has taken place today as well with only a very slight covering on pavements and grass now.

Any way talking of long sticks, let us lads get em out tommorrow and see how deep we can all go tease.gif

Sounds like a plan, as long as we don't get more than a couple of inches otherwise i wont be able to play with the big boys, especially when you add

the cold effect to it. I'm ok for measuring light dustings and frost though good.gif

Oh i missed it, how was it for south yorks?

Very Wintry week ahead Snow risk decreasing from midweek as high presure moves over uk this will result in lower temps especially at night with fog and frost.

Signs of an Atlantic break through next weekend but confidence is low.

Easy lamppost watching you can see the snow flakes as light snow falls.
