Blizzard a word often over used especially in the south. No other word to describe conditions here now.

Now turning more sleety, but quite a high snow/rain mix.

Still some snow lying from Fridays event so all I can do is hope and watch it turns more and more to snow.

Canny snowy. That's the science bit. So the snow may last until the early hours of tomorrow now, extended again.

Snow falling well here, quite impressed really tbh. Not mega depths, but 3-4 cm on top of stuff that never went away.

5cm on my patio table :-)

Jesus Christ, those in the Yorkshire thread are reporting 15cm of fresh snow, that is not fair.

People not in the North East tell lies.

Those that left for work could have a problem later with snow and temp dropping. Also snow looks to be intensifying. Deep and drifting in lower Consett. God knows what it's like in Consett itself!!

A dump like always lol.

Hi all. Long time lurker, sixth time poster, from Consett.

I can report that the snow here is now "Beagle deep" (he's a long legged Beagle, too!), with no apparent end in sight.

Is anyone tracking the temperatures up here in Consett area? Just wondering what the trend is now, when I was looking at the models last night the 'marginality' seemed to be at its greatest around 9am (now)

No accumulations here either, temperature is 0.1c but there is still some dripping, still snowing but its biggish flakes but not many of them, heyho and I was hoping for a 47' style blizzard.

Just got back from the school run and I've already had enough of over cautious drivers. There's a cm of slush on the main roads. It's not armageddon.

Maybe it's a good thing that I don't work in Consett any more, but I certainly would have loved the challenge of trying to get there, and back again! There is something about driving in severe weather that makes me feel so alive.

I will be following this thread today with interest, not a lot to do at work!

Blizzard like conditions in DUrham walking the bairn to school... 5" lying in best spots, foot-high drifts, finally more is settling.. and school is still on: makes me proud to be in the NE. :)
