Just had a really heavy squall up here....probably dropped nearly a cm in about 10 mins....

Had a bit more interesting on a visual POV with very heavy snow grains blowing around in a gusty wind, lasted all but 10 seconds but looking outside now, at least things look a bit more interesting visually.

BBC did a tremendous job of making Consett looking very nice, I am not actually sure they were in Consett to be honest but hey ho....the reporter on News24 described it as 'knee deep in places'.

Just had a heavy hail squall gong through and it has laied to some extent as some of the wet roofs got shades of white(not grey!) on them, and now it heavy snow, not the smallest flakes in the world either. See how long it lasts though before it turns lighter again.

Snowing here in Peterlee. Seems the snow that is already lying from the previous events last week has thawed slightly. Current snow is almost horizontal and is sticking to the cars, etc.

If there is such a thing as the wrong type of snow, well we have at the moment, I will say one thing though its colder today than it was last night.

Can someone just explain the wind direction, is it still coming from the south east?

The centre of this 'little' weather system has some 'warm' air within in, rather like the eye of a hurricane, though clearly not as active. This cell of warm air is currently running up the north east coast towards Scotland, surrounding this cell is much colder air to all sides. As the system continues to track north the freezing levels should drop almost back to sea level, whether enough significant PPN remains associated as it tracks north remains to be seen.
