I think ill brave conditions a bit later for some pics. Must be well over a foot now here. Relentless blizzards here and drifting snow since it started and 18 hours still to come met office reckon. 3 foot fence posts on mates field next door are just about buried. Can just about see 6 foot or so drifts against buildings. Worst (best) day of snow for years.

I've just been looking at the radar images and i'm keeping an eye on an area of more intense precipitation just leaving the dutch coast which hopefully will be heading in our direction.

Still snowing if you can call it snow not sticking just melting away i think.

Its the worst kind of snow that's small grains you could mistake for rain if you didn't look close enough.

NAE chart shows this band of snow hanging around for a while yet

18:00

By tomorrow it starts to fizzle out

Lets hope these charts are anywhere close to being right.... I very much doubt it though.

Radar for down here looks terrible.

Only 3 out of 7 from my team made it in today.

I would understand if it was Consett, but this is Nottingham, with about 5cm of snow.

They are apparently "snowed in" lol, I miss being up there with tough northerners!

Looking forward to coming home at the weekend, think I will have a drive to Waskerley.

According to itv weather our snow will die out around lunchtime tomorrow. Will be some very impressive totals around the high ground by then. Heard from mate that prudhoe is also snowbound.

The radar S of about Newc looks like it's weaker... but at least here in Durham it's still coming down pretty well.

ARe we expecting the radar to pep up then? And where will that extra oomph come from?

thats a lot of snow coming out of Germany and Holland.this has every chance of being an epic event up here.

But will it make it here? Is it forecast to?

A lot of flights cancelled coming out of the low country so I would guess its pretty rough.
