We had 5 and a half " last night but it looks like there was a freeze overnight as there was a layer of ice on top. Jacknifed lorries all over st helens and a crash between a lorry and a plough. All busses were suspended and train overhead lines have come down too. The beeb have no coverage of it though compared to last week wen london was buried. This wont be here by the end of the day as the sun is out now and temps are rising

That was my train i was driving that hit the fallen overheads at Boars Head, just outside Wigan.(ice and snow brought them down) Drove straight into them and they were still live. Gave me a great lightning show but damn nearly

kacked myself (lol) then the wires settled on top of the train, a bit nervy knowing there is 25,000 volts just inches from your head. Anyway, to cut a long storey short, eventually got all passenger

and train crew to safety, left the train on the WCML as unable to move. Had to go and lay protection 300 yards front and rear of the train )when the wires were isolated) and the snow was deep, i'd say

at least 10-12 inch. Anyway eventually finished my 10 hour shift (3pm yesterday till 01:11 at 06:00, so bit nackered and peed of with snow at the mo, lol

Heavy snow at night in the town centre always leads to mischief haha! It's still there this afternoon but has been moved to the pavement :)

I had fun lastnight out til gone midnight ...nothing like 6 lagers then sledging lol.

I had a dance about in the snow and i still couldnt believe how fast it was coming down.

I got about as much as Sunday night but this time i didnt miss it falling.

I got about 6 or 7cm.

We ended up with around 5 inches of snow last night. It came down at a rate I've never seen before, and that I didn't think was possible. It was the proper snow too, the stuff that's really sticky & great to build with. It turned to light rain around 1am but didn't hurt the cover. Temperatures are now above 4C so as you can imagine it's melting very quickly. There's a horrible amount of slush on the ground, but man. that's the best battleground I've ever seen.

Kudos to this cold spell, we dismissed it far too early.

Here's to the next one in February. biggrin.png

Very jealous. Fair play you lot.

Managed to get down the drive in the 4x4, walked or more truthuflly staggered and slipped around Rawtenstall, then on our return I got stuck on the drive and had to slide down backwards and park on the main road. There is loads of lying water everywhere because the gutters and drains are blocked by the snow, if it rains hard this will be disasterous!

I thought you guys might be interested in viewing this image, I thought it was bizarre that there is a large gap of no snow over a small area of Manchester.
