Hi there,

My weather stations wind speed and direction instrumenta seem to get stuck when spinning. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix?

So are you saying they physically get stuck OR that they are spinning but your not getting any reading?

If they physically get stuck then it's up the pole you must go to have a closer look.

BTW what unit is it?

The actual units are not spinning. This was since the snow we had. I've got the pole down but can't seem to find the problem. Both units seem slightly buckled and they get stuck in one position. Very annoying.

What unit is it?

I know on mine (LaCrosse) it sticks after snow fall as the snow freezes under the anemometer, and I have to wait until it warms a little.

Sounds as though yours might be a tad worse than that though!

Time for a call to the weathershop (depending upon the unit type)

If ice has somehow bent them I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try to bend it back.

Since the alternative will be to replace anyway.

Some hot water might help.

Turns out was faulty. Got a replacement. The shop I got it from had to take them off the shelf a week after I got mine.
