From the telegraph.

Crop circles were revealed as a hoax almost 20 yrs ago,so why do so many people still flock to Wiltshire, convinced of there extraterrestrial powers.

Journalists are so intelligent don`t you think???

Ask fancine what she gets from crop circles and she replies:

A sense of wonder and mystery,Which is something not many people feel these days,We`re so dull,so suspicious,so limited in our way of thinking.

No wonder she is suspicious of the media.

Crops circles are no hoax, concludes historian after studying google earth`s new 1945 overlay.

Crop circles dating back to 1945 proof the panksters Dave and doug didn`t do them then.

Greg davies:There is a mounting form of evidence that suggests that a rare form of eletromagnetic energy called an ionised plasma vortex is involved.

Plasma balls do weird things like passing through solid objects(such as stone walls or windows)and floating through the air against the wind.Exactly where this energy comes from is not yet understood by science.

He also believes that the mainstream media were so timid in there way of thinking in their limited view of the universe, that they would not be sitting on there hands pretending this thing is not happening but would be seriously investigating this unexplained phenomenom.

Read those fascinating links before you comment,if they work.

After you realise how selective, dumbed down and biased the media is, its small wonder that anything that may expand peoples thinking from mundane day to day topics, like fiscal policies , sport and sales is ripped apart lol, especially when the BBC does a proper scientific documentary telling you how everything is explained with physics and 300 hundred year old research..

Woowoo science! I've seen wind flattened crops that look as if the patterns were 'made'

As Richard Dawkins said, I think, on such matters: It's important to keep an open mind - but not so open, that your brain falls out!

I love that quote!

When I see a crop circle in heather half way up a steep mountain that isn't a result of hill burning management I might, just might, consider it to have been made by 'unknown forces'

It's a long trip for the aliens, just to make silly pictures in cornfields. Perhaps they've invented a super Spirograph!

With regards the crop circle enthusiasts, I believe that some research is being made into the way that the wearing of anoraks affects the brain - it is well known that the wearing of these garments has the effect of diminishing one's critical facitities and making one highly credulous. The 'anorak brigade' are the most fervent supporters in believing that the crop circles are formed during the night by little green men from outer space, so scientists are trying to establish exactly how this happens.

In fact they are most commonly formed after the local pub has closd in the evening when some of the local lads get together some basic utensils to flatten the corn into wierd and wonderful shapes.

Sometimes this is done with the co-operation of the farmer, so that he can charge the credulous £2 a head to come onto his land to take a closer look and some may even hire out anoraks for an extra fee.

It is also possible for these to be formed naturally by a wind vortex near the ground in certain weather conditions.

I don't think blurry photos of circular shapes in 1950s fields is much to get suspicious about. Animals such as horses tied to a post or whatever will form a circular shape as they walk around, I remember seeing shapes like that in the fields when I was a kid and thinking they were UFOs, but no, just horses. Then could be buildings, ponds, ditches etc. They could be absolutely anything, space aliens though would be right at the bottom of likely possibilities I thinks.

The intricately patterned crop circles we see today couldn't possibly be formed by natural processes like vortexes or plasma or whatever, so either humans or space aliens, most likely humans!

I do think that there are 'natural crop circles' and also hoax ones. The natural ones will have something to do with 'earth energies' that we do not yet understand. some form of electro-magnetic anomally?

Seeing as we live in a huge bar magnet surrounded by a pretty highly charged atmosphere lightning can't be the only expression of these energies surely?

The recent vogue for fantastically complex fractal shapes is simply ridiculous.(and outrageously destructive since most of that area will be potentially unharvestable)

There are a various natural effects could conceivably make circles or rings for example most of us have seen fairy rings created by fungus, a following effect is a dark green nitrogen enriched ring as they break down.

In grain crops this could easily result in a ring of taller growth which could go down in wet windy weather.

On another forum, I asked for folks' definitions of a 'UFO expert'...I thought that this was the best reply:

'An expert in being unable to identify things.'
