Showers are rattling through, what's showing in Liverpool appears to arrive in parts of Greater Manchester 20-30 minutes later. Already another set of clusters streaming their way in off the Irish Sea. Hope the momentum lasts throughout the night, when temps will drop further.

Just had a heavy hail & rain shower, still very gusty and the temp really fell during that one and it's now 3.2c.

hmmmmmmm well a gritter has come past wonder if they know something?

they know what we know...(they will have had a more detailed explanation from the meto)....they have to decide whether to spend some of their ever dwindling budgets on gritting tonight.......it must be a tough call...particularly here.....Im 99% sure Preston city centre wont see any lying snow or frost tonight...despite the warnings.......but if it was my job decide to grit the town centre, would i? hmmmm........This time Im so sure I think Id say ignore the forecasts lets save the cash.

Still slowly falling away the temp and it isn't recovering like it was earlier after the showers had passed, down to 2.5c now. Colder air now making it's presence known :)

If you have access to the NW radar , you can see how more of the showers over Ireland are starting to turn from Rain to sleet and then snow, once that cold air digs in ours will turn more and more snowy

2.3c now, slowly does it! Feeling more like -10c in the westerly gales. Clear skies atm.
