Looking as though we're going to miss snow altogether from the latest models.

With all due respect, we achieved 7c here in Newcastle today so there'd have to be a huge temperature drop for anything wintry here tomorrow.

Well I'm not expect much TBH Sunday looks like cold rain for most of us and Monday looks very marginal with just a few light snow showers here and there

Im expecting nothing but cold rain for the majority of lowland North East so if anything white does fall over the next few days, for me, its a bonus

I reckon even Consett will be lucky to see a great deal out of this.

Today turned out to be a real drab affair over the Lake District and milder than expected. There was some light snowfall down to about 250m early this morning. I was walking in the northern fells, and the snowline was about 400m on eastern aspects, however, temps did fall markedly at dusk. Couldn't see any of the higher fells.

Tomorrow looks very messy indeed - two factors will determine the risk of snow

a - altitude. Increased altitude will as is always the case increase chance of snowfall.

b - intensity of precipitation, the heavier the precipitation the greater chance of it being of snow thanks to evaporative cooling taking effect.

It does look very marginal for settling snow on ground below about 250/300m, instead I am expecting lots of sleety wet flakes to be falling from the sky on lower ground and in any heavier bursts some places might see a slushy deposit. However, the precipitation looks like petering out by lunchtime just when the colder uppers will start to dig in.

Have to say tomorrow is likely to end up a thoroughly miserable day in the main.Sleety wet snowflakes falling from the sky but not settling doesn't appeal much at all, just a kick in the teeth - rather we just got plain rain.

I just can't believe that 2 days ago we went from a snowy set up(not from the weather front) to very little to look forward to!

I still don't see any big changes... today never looked that rosy, and Monday night still looks prime for some snow showers. A few days ago we speculated that this could be a snowy spell, but as we get very near the event we can say pretty accurately (usually) where the precipitation will be, and it turns out that we will miss most of it this time.
