Has it been difficult to forecast?

The weather today, was always going to happen like this. Whatever building blocks it required were all in place. We just haven't got the technology to have the required understanding

It's the weather it will always do what it is going to do. Most of the time we don't have a clue

Finally! TUrning to wet snow here.

Every time the ppn is over Newcastle, etc and not us,,, finally we get ppn over us that hasn't moved for like 2 hours... and we're a degree too warm to make the most of it! LOL

Snow now but won't settle.

Folk in the Yorks thread reporting snow so considering they are further inland and with greater elevation, anyone hoping for snow tonight are going to be disappointed.

Was in the car about 30 minutes ago and temp was showing 6c - not a cat in hells chance of anything remotely wintry tonight I'm afraid.

As it starts to turn to snow all around Durham!!!

This will be a carbon copy of the last snowfall, we'll go to sleep with a whiteout and wake up with it all melting :(

yellow warning for snow issued for wed doesnt include darlo tho or if you are on the coast looks more like a rain/sleet event

The snow warning come as far east as Newton Aycliffe any snow that does fall only looks temporary as temperatures start to rise later in the day

Valid from: 0600 on Wed 13 Feb 2013

Valid to: 1800 on Wed 13 Feb 2013

A band of sleet and snow will spread across much of Scotland and parts of northern England during Wednesday. Accumulations of 2 to 6 cm could occur at lower elevations, but perhaps more than 10 cm over some hilly areas, where drifting is possible in strong winds. However, the snow should ease and revert to rain later in the day, so snow cover at low levels should be temporary. The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, particularly to travel.

GFS is starting to look marginal for parts of the region already

Those high up should be fine but for most close to the coast could see sleet

It will snow at low levels on Wednesday for a little while at least, I think those charts from the GFS can be a bit inaccurate as the resolution isn't high enough.

Had an awful journey to Newcastle on the Metro this morning - was that "Andy." from Netweather I saw complaining on their Twitter feed? ;)
