Really big flakes here now, could that be due to the higher d/pts heading towards us?

Tom.

Dunno about snow but I've had a bitter E'ly wind for most of the day, at least it's dried up the ground a bit! Would be nice to see the occasional hard frost now and again search.gif

Heavy snow here starting to cover paths and just starting to settle on road. wasn't expecting this a couple of hours ago when everything was dripping wet! Will it last?

West/North west London certainly seems to be in the sweet spot. 7 hours of snowfall now, and the heaviest most consistent I have seen all winter.

Shame its not settling too much though

yes, the 4/5cms could have been easily doubled had dew points been more favourable...and also earlier i,e. Complete Snow rather than transition. The earlier rain has not helped...

Starting to settle a few miles north in Reigate... Nothing significant though...

50p flakes ( or the big ones )

are often milder wedges where snowflakes have blended together- & 50p flakes can be in deformation zones where strong updrafts in the cloud send them up & down until they are to large to float anymore

STELLA DENTRITES!!

best part of 1cm in the last 20 mins-- thats new england rates lol
