50p flakes ( or the big ones )

are often milder wedges where snowflakes have blended together- & 50p flakes can be in deformation zones where strong updrafts in the cloud send them up & down until they are to large to float anymore

STELLA DENTRITES!!

best part of 1cm in the last 20 mins-- thats new england rates lol

S

Hopefully that stuff out in the channel will keep taking the its current track Steve

Snow really pepping up, much heavier again with the 50p flakes. We've got about 3cm's lying at the moment, far better than I was expecting this afternoon when it was soaking wet outside!

Moderately heavy wet snow in Oxford...the heaviest that I've seen so far this year. :)

The chunky monkies have arrived in SE15 now. Putting down roots on top of the fine slush layer we have had since 10pm. Nice to see, since I missed the Jan 17/18th event.

Whats happened is the low in the channel has just lifted a tad NE probably like forecast & moved the convergence slightly east-

that does bring milder air NE- or rather slightly more marginal- hence some of the southern contingent seeing rain- however at the moment we are in the snow zone.

Well its been snowing since 9:30pm here in Camden Town, Central London. Temp dropped quickly and snow has been falling slowly and now its coming down fast and heavy. smile.png

Even in places where rain has fallen, some snow is starting to settle. However I don't think we'll have a full covering; hopefully I'm wrong though.

At least we got something out of this.
