    WEATHER WATCH

THIS IS AN ADVANCED WATCH FOR SEVERE WEATHER

    Category: Level 2 Warning

Weather type: Heavy rain and gales

    Affecting: England and Wales

Date Valid For: Tuesday 1200 until Thursday 1800

Discussion: A potent low pressure system, currently deepening, is expected to head towards the shores of Southern Britain come later on Tuesday and into Wednesday, bringing with it some very unsettled weather indeed.

Estimates of rainfall are between 25 and 50mm (1 to 2 inches) for many places, with more for hillier and exposed regions, and therefore, after the very dry period of weather lately, localised flooding becomes even more of a risk.

Wind speeds have the potential to exceed 50mph, especially along exposed coastal and hilly areas.

A further update will be issued as and when more details become available about the intensity and track of the low. Stay tuned.

    Confidence Level: 70%

Note: This alert should be considered a guide and we strongly recommend you stay tuned to the Met-Office for further warnings and updates.

Expect further updates as and when needed.
