Reply to the hot summers of 2005/6

One of those years had a huge thunder storm in june that spread across the whole country and cause serious flash flooding everywhere, was the heaviest rain and loudest thunder I'd ever seen/heard. The news papers called it a monsoon if I remember right.

I remember that event, it was quite something. I hope we see something similar this year!

LOL! certainly forgotten the heat of Jun/Jul 2006, I think the main reason I don't have quite such good memories of these two summers is that both had pretty average Augusts when the kids were off school.

Edit re-posted as on the end of last thread.

That summer I admit was a bit too hot for me. I like it pleasantly warm but not big heat and humidity. Even by the coast temperatures regularly went into the 80sF and the sea was very warm late into the autumn and then stayed warmer than usual because of a dreadful winter that followed doh.gif . The long warm evenings were nice though - bit like an extended holiday (when not working)smile.png

May as well be as winter is over now, lets face it :-(

It looks like staying quite cold for a while - and as far as I am concerned that is good enoughsmile.png

We are certainly overdue a warmer and definitely drier summer this year but happy to have a cold springsmile.png

Wouldn't be surprised to exactly see that happen - and rather break the pattern of recent years. Sooner or later there will be something different, even though I think we might well be entering a longer term pattern of colder wetter summers and *she touches wood* colder winterscold.gif

I'd settle for a coolish spring until the middle of May if it meant a great Summer from about 20th May to 15th September!

The good news is that the bits of precip are getting bigger; the bad news is that it's turned to sleet...cray.gif

Glowgreen, can you put your location in your profile/signature please ? Cheers.

Had a 5 minute flurry of graupel here earlier this afternoon which wasn't enough to see me through to the next round of the snow depth cup. Aside from that the forecast for the next few days is everything I dislike about the last throes of winter. Overcast, cold, drizzle.

I've got to say that I really don't like this weather. I like snow, as much as most here, but this cold, cloudy, raw weather does zero for me. I'm just longing to see sunshine now as much as anything.

is that line of showers still sleet as it spreads inland and peps up a tad ?

It was sleet earlier here, but the temp decreased and it's turned back to snow now surprisingly, I'm on the coast as well.

Temp: 1.5

Dewpoint: -0.2
