Can hardly believe how the temperature is plummeting away here even before sunset.

It's almost as if a freak pool of air has arrived from somewhere.

-2.7C now.

There is a light snow cover hardly 1cm.

-2.7C now, I'll put the WX station summary on (updates at 5 minute intervals)

There is a light snow cover hardly 1cm.

Also a chance of streamers setting up or just banding of showers? Surely east of Pennines will do reasonably well tonight and tomorrow morning?!

I don't expect to see major streamer activity but banding of showers is likely at times. I still think snow depths won't be massive though- 5-10cm in favoured spots, 2-4cm for a fair number, and a dusting for the places that miss most of the showers.

Had a dusting an hour or so ago but now it is snowing really heavily and it is settling fast as the temp is -0.3°C with a DP of -5.3°C

Haven't checked the radar so don't know how long it will last but appears much more substantial than the flurries earlier though.

Just had a lovely snow shower! But the North Sea isn't producing much more is it!! Why are we seeing such cold uppers with no heavy frequent showers developing! Bbc take off the advisories!

Met office have massively over rated the North Sea. Doubt I'm wrong looking at radar.

North Sea is colder than normal so maybe its not generating the showers as much as usual.

It's passed through here, but it was a pretty impressive shower and left a nice dusting.
