Hi John, the weather really is like mid-winter round here with mod/light snow and a bitter wind chill -4c in gusty winds, with around 3/4cm of snow, I would keep off the ridges around Eyam tops, it will not be pleasant at all until the wind drop's... keep warm and enjoy !

Feeling like midwinter here. A little sleet but full snow up on the Mendips and Quantocks leading to a light covering. Only about 1 degree and the birds have gone quiet again after an initial burst of song earlier in the week.

comment on snow lying in the Peak

Most seemed to be from 500ft up and especially 750ft up, blowing about in the wind and at 1000ft some decent sized drifts, 18 inches or so chiefly through open filed gates. wind gusting 30+mph at times, but still some blue patches and a bit of sunshine now and then. Very little in the way of falling snow but shower clouds passed either side of us. We were out of Stoney Middleton up on to the top by the quarries, across the main Manchester Baslow road cutting over before Foolow and then into Eyam and back down the quite steep slope to SM church area. That would make a super ski run, even got the slalom poles in (poles to mark the main path!. Invigorating walk and great to see snow lying and the not level line at which it was greener down to the valleys.

Little sign through the walk even on the top of much freezing taking place but certainly no thaw above about 600ft.
