lol, you couldn't make it up really :)

Not a sniff here (certainly at the moment)... I think the Perth snowshield is the only one that's had it's batteries fully charged in anticipation for today!!

Fingers crossed we get something decent here later... but to everyone who is getting a little of the white stuff, enjoy!!!

Same here in Leith I can see Fife from our top-floor window and its all white there. Nothing here at all though. Theres plenty cloud coming in and radar looks reasonable. But nowt happening. So aye, Leith snow shield operating at close to 100% efficiency...

New warning

Issued at - 10 Mar 2013, 09:42

Valid from - 10 Mar 2013, 10:05

Valid to - 10 Mar 2013, 15:59

Snow showers will continue to affect many parts of northern and eastern Scotland and northeast England giving a covering of snow, even at low levels. Showers will become prolonged in a few places resulting in localised accumulations of 2 to 5 cm, especially higher ground inland.

The public should be aware of possible travel disruption.

Dry here now and the mid-March sun has taken care of most of the snow (not much we can about that!)

It's bound to be frustrating for some as the showers start to band some areas will be hit while others miss out...but it's early days and as I mentioned earlier the coldest air arrives later on. Personally I hope the worst of it holds off until late afternoon...it would be nice to go for a walk at dusk with a couple of cm of snow on the ground...last time I was able to do that was December 2010.

Snowing here for hours now and lying, actually the best snowfall we've had all winter! There was me looking forward to spring...

Localised 2-5cm may well be a gross underestimation. Just grapple here, following a typical pattern of a wind vector that's broadly due east east in terms of distribution. Potential for melting through the day due to the strength of the sun but if you can establish a decent base it should stay.

My part of fife looks just like the pic of Dundee with heavy snow on again. Supposed to be taking wee one To Ben and Holly live show-will attempt it but not sure how roads will be come 12pm!! Not sure ill get to Edinburgh to see my mum either. Anyone with any weather reports in S/Edinburgh-Liberton area?

It's just started up again in S.Ed (I'm a mile or so from Liberton), but if you let me know what time you'll be setting off I can let you know what it's like then. About 12ish, or leaving earlier?

Pelting down here at the minute. Big fluffy flakes mixed with graupel. Won't last long though. If only we could tap into some more of this! There's plenty out there - just need the track to change ever so slightly! Typical Edinburgh that even with showers moving in from the east places further west are getting more snow!

2-5cm? What are the MetO playing at? Can they not look at the radar and realise the totals locally would be sig higher than that!

Looking at the radar Dundee and Fife must be getting plastered. Need the train a little further south here, heavy showers very intermittent

It really does my freekin' head in [having a mini-TOORP here]

However it's been happening since I started keeping a close eye on these things since the early-70s ... And by extension all the way back into the mists of time. Must be half a dozen factors that against us most of the time, but when I look at the radar it really does seem like the snow gods are just having a laugh at our expense.

Oh well end of mini-TOORP and let's see how the day goes here !

Met Office, your 'avin a laugh. We're neither high ground or that far inland but we've got more than 5cm already and its snowing again, often quite heavily.

Heavy but brief showers keeping the interest, but too much melt happening inbetween here. All early cover gone.

Lothian and Borders will get plastered later when everything moves south, would rather see the heaviest showers after 4pm with no melt due to the high March sun!!

I agree with PB, indications are the Lothians are looking in very good shape overnight into tomorrow. Worst of the snow just to the north of here at the moment which can often happen but no shortage of convection at least.
