No thunder been around and all the heavier stuff is now east of us moving north east so things should be ok for now.

Big difference between channel low progged on
    UKMO
at 144 with strong easterly which looks like it would bring very cold temps and the threat of snow to south east and 144
    ECM
with south westerly wind bringing milder conditions to more than half the country and somewhere in the middle
    GFS
at 144 shows south-easterly wind later veering more easterly later but not as cold as
    UKMO
with the low not really making inroads into the UK. Countryfile forecast pretty much backs up the
    UKMO
chart for Friday into Saturday (see link below starts at 19.20).

So lots of uncertainty at present, doubt we will know about Saturday until at least midweek by which time hopefully we will have some model agreement.

    Evening all,

All this talk of storms reminded me of a visit to my sister who used to live in Andorra. We went to see her one summer when all the snow had melted and there were alpine streams running through the beautiful mountains. Driving back from town during the day to where she lived (which was on a ski resort) we would see the clouds around the tops of the mountains and we had to drive through them up the Pyrenees to get to her village. The evening before we left there was a huge thunder storm and we watched for hours as the lightning hit the mountains. It was amazing and after that I never feared them again, instead I've found them amazing! I've never seen anything like that before or since but totally understand why people find hem scary.

BTW, She lives in Watford now....l not sure the storms there are quite as dramatic :)
