Best of luck to all you up North - hope you get your snow and loads of it....................

Maybe a chance of something further south later in the weekend and early next week

Drove up Croghan mtn, about 6 miles due west of Arklow county wicklow at lunchtime.

Sleety rain by the sea in Arklow but 6 miles inland and at 1500ft it was a white out,it had only been falling for about 2hrs at that stage.

This pic was taken about a 5 minute slow crawl above the snow line.

Its all ahead of ye up north and by golly, the front was well able to peg the snow!

45 minutes without a post. What are you lot doing. It's snowing.

Just kidding. Without anyone to chat to the Cider is going down fairly quick.

There seems to be 3 balloons attached to the power lines directly outside my window. One says 2 on it, the others just coloured.

Wonder if it is a sign.

2nd biggest snow event of my lifetime.

2 inches of snow with 3 days lying or vice versa.

I'll meet a 23 year old gal?

Exactly my point, imagine the uproar of sordid videos on Netweather of a drunken mod sledging naked on Castlereagh hills.

In all seriousness I am suppose to be doing security at a Nathan Carter concert tomorrow night (I know, I know)

Think of all the distressed ladies out there if I can't make it due to snowsleep.png

Synoptically this set up is the holy grail for snowlovers.....only its 6 weeks too late for most of us. If we had this setup in January we'd already be well into a big freeze with plenty of lying snow and a serious snowstorm on the way with no let up in sight. As it is we have the worst kind of weather, 3 degrees and rain with a wind chill well below zero... Am I just moaning? U bet your bal*s I am.

VERY Good question ginger.

Presumably, as some areas in the North and East are still retaining snow cover from a few days ago I'd say the answer is yes to those inland (near the existing cover), and for those nearer the coast it will be hard to call. Quick thaw maybe, but if it freezes overnight Friday/Saturday, could last longer.
