It looked as though my area was going to miss out completely last night, but a nice covering this morning and it's still snowing lightly.

Looking at the radar I think this must be the only area in Yorks and Lincs that's barely seen a flake. And I can count them on one finger.

Ouch that is bad luck. The snow isn't very deep here and it's probably around an inch in places, but it's still better than i expected.

Aye, same here, I'm looking at others impressive snowy photos. We have nothing here save for a few

tiny flakes blowing in the bitter wind.

I can't say I'm wishing for it now though to be honest. I fear for the wildlife and farm animals.

I have nesting birds in my garden and a hedgehog that came out of hibernation.

I wonder how my neighbours faired yesterday, they set off to the Lake District and go on from there

to Dumfries and Galloway today !

    B. :)

Being snowing here since the early hours good covering now and still coming down quite impressive with the gusty wind. No snow in Beverley? Your only about six or seven miles away.

Holy WoWzers, am snowed in, front yard is buried by a drift up to the letterbox. 2010's 48cm is safe so far but 2009 has been destroyed.

The main Sheffield Road is a single track from the plough and the path has been buried by drifts up the wall. Everythings covered with

fluffy white snow pillows sculpted by the wind, i woke up at 3:50am and the room was bright orange, looked out the window and it was

hammering it down. --1.1C and i'm going nowhere.

18 cm of level snow I think.... So thats 13cm since five last night.

Those who know Sheffield well Woodseats Chesterfield road was sheet ice in places. It's been ploughed and gritted recently. Not often you see that road needing a plough on it.

Water content so far 6.4mm waiting for the snow to melt to measure the rest. It's sat in the pan and there's plenty of it and it's wet snow as well.

The heavier snow did get here shortly after midnight but the temperature stayed above freezing (0.5C min) so it hasn't settled very readily on concrete surfaces- about 2cm on the grass though.
