I just thought I saw a snowflake. But, on closer examination, it turned out to be only a Higgs boson...

Och weil, you can't win them all!

I hope it doesn't show rain rain and more rain again, if it warms up I'd prefer dry and warm, from that high droping down over us.

In the winters of the 90s we'd have given up our God Particles for the sniff of a snowflake RP. In fact there were undoubtedly more Higgs Bosons around than frozen water crystals back then, it's just that no-one had actually seen them (actually, either!)

Ice Day just failed here as the temperature is now 0.7c. Never mind, it's Sky Sports cricket time! Cricket and weather - never let it be said that I am inherently dull.....

I think we're all worn out! I've never seen such prolonged superb model output, mild just get's put further and further back. It's really in line with how the whole winter's gone so far; best model watching in the internet era! One more week then I'm going to the dark side and looking for warmth!

Will make the deadline for posting your final depths 11.00 p.m then, in the Snow Depth Cup and post the results a little later.

Many thanks to those of you who have posted/P.M'd your depths to me.

One more time then, this is the situation as it stands, remember 11.00 p.m the cut-off point, not going to accept anything after,

sorry!

Well, if it's more snow you're after, then Wednesday onwards we may see more substantial snow showers (rather than flurries of next few days) develop towards eastern coasts as an upper low develops/cold pool deepens aloft increasing lift. Thursday could see something more persistent develop snow-wise across the SE looking at GFS and ECM.

Uncertainties by Friday wrt to the attack from the SW by Atlantic frontal systems, especially how far north the precip will get across southern England and the line of marginality between rain and snow that goes with it. ECM keeps the front, precip and cold air furthest south - so any snow grazing the southern counties, GFS further north. Though the 12z in general alot more blocked to the Atlantic attacks than the 00z - so could remain cold and perhaps snowy into the Easter Weekend!
