    A clear start to last night but cloud increased after midnight and brought a few showers of snow pellets, and a little snow, during the early hours giving a fresh dusting of snow.

    Currently dry and windy with sunny intervals.

The day dawned cloudy and frosty. The morning so far has been dry with variable cloud, and bright spells, strong NE wind, feeling very cold. Feeling bitterly cold all day in the strong NE wind, there were some bright spells and some brief watery sunny spells. The evening and night saw the cloud clearing to allow frost to develop.

    -1deg overnight currently 6deg,sunny some cloud not much snow now at this level plenty under the walls higher up 30% looking up pole moor and buckstones

    A min of -1.0c and the 13th consecutive air frost.

    Around 20% snowcover left the biggest drifts are still very impressive,still some snow on the roof in the shade also.

    Wind more NNE.

    The daffodils are not even out yet,no sign of any trees coming out,and no grass.

    The slow(steady thawing in the sun)thawing of the snow has given alot of very clean water back into the brook.

    A dry day with the odd snow pellet wafting around, and a high of 6.7c.

    Currently.

    Dp -3.4c

    Wind Chill 1.8c, N/E 9mph

    Snow cover 20%

    Quite a thaw over the last 2 days here, snow now only remains in the hollows and under the wall's where there are still drift's up to 1.5m. There's also piles of snow everywhere and on all the road sides up to 3m in places, even some back lanes are still blocked..

    Showers of snow and snow pellets early this morning and a few flakes of snow around mid-morning, otherwise a dry day with sunny intervals and a fresh-strong NE wind, though not as strong as yesterday.

    The steady thaw continues, snow cover now around 20% and, as PM says above, piles of snow by the roadsides 1m-2.5m deep.

    Today was the mildest day since March 7th.

    • Exceptional warmth for western Europe as October begins

      There'll be exceptionally warm temperatures for the time of year affecting much of western Europe during the coming days, but that warmth will only graze the UK for now.
