Well the full team are finally together for the first full days chasing, after ironing out the equipment and testing it on a bonus chase yesterday we are ready to go. We are starting in Wichita Falls this morning and there looks to be 3 zones of convective initiation, the first from WAA Which should quickly evolve into an MCS, The 2nd which we will be targeting is the dryline/cold front intersection and the third along the cold front in Oklahoma.

Hoping for some nice Supercells today but once again Large Hail will be the primary threat with the tornado threat very low.

Will be Streaming later today as well.

I hope the damage waiver is all up to date and paid for then Paul!

Good hunting team :good:

There's a lot of low cloud around and an ongoing MCS cluster south of Abilene now, my orginal target this morning.
Now I'm not so sure and wonder whether closer to home may see a better environment by 21Z - where cloud clears but your side of the DL.
It's tricky identifying a specific target because there'll be a lot of development along a long line and then close to the main front in N OK. Biggest issue is hail with moderate LCL heights and shear but loads of CAPE available.
I'd be waiting it out where you are and then maybe look SW towards Seymour, TX once I know what the effects of the ongoing cluster are on the destabilising conditions.

On our way towards Seymour, TX for some lunch and to see if these clouds can clear :D

Good choice dirol.gif

Latest vis sat shows a 'hole' behind the main cluster which should expand further as the ongoing ppn edges east. A sweet spot west of Seymour - perhaps Benjamin on the I6 may be a decent place to watch.

Edit - a few discrete cells already forming west of the clump and just east of the DL half way between Benjamin and Abilene in the last half hour.

Off to take a look at the cell west of Abeline. Very cloudy down here still but hoping it'll clear. Very dodgy internet down here currently so doing our best :)

Yep that cell looks pretty robust - trundling east at 14mph with a hail signature of 1.25".
It has a clear field to it's west to play with so may last a few hours.

Charles Edwards has the core on stream - looks best avoided LOL.

Arron - can't get your stream running for some reason. Does it need a specific player or add-on?

Yep, stream is marked as off at the moment as the connectivity in the teams location is v poor although it's showing intermittently right now.

Thanks Paul - completely understand.

Just seen the SPC MD and the lapse ratres in the Abilene area of 9 deg/km in the H7 to H5 layer are impressive indeed so no surprise with the big hail.

A little surprised nothing's fired yet further North but the Abilene area and SW of there looks primed in the next few hours for going vertical.

A bit of a shimmy on this cell as you already know, with a bit of an inflow notch on the SE flank typical of a ESE moving storm.

Proably need to get to the SE of it to see what's going on.
