Chase Day 5, 13th May KS

Nothing but blue skies today so we're heading north from our overnight stay in Woodward, OK to see some friends in McPherson, KS. Going to stop in Greensburg for lunch and to see how the town is getting on another year after the event.

This morning we completed the Wal-Mart challenge! This involved purchasing an item (or several associated items) costing no more than $5 ex tax, not orange or green, no wheels unless REALLY cool and that couldn't be consumed (unless sealed such as a pharmaceutical item) all within a 20 minute time limit (yes this challenge was born the night before sat in the sun with a wee drink)

There were quite a few amusing items bought; hopefully we'll get some pictures up later of all the purchases

The finalists: Arron - Raccoon urine (overall winner), Ian - original goat caller, perfect for ALL phases of the rut, Jo - Mole and pocket gopher poisoned peanuts. Excuse the pic, taken in a moving car. Will get a group goodies shot later.

Tuesday 14th outlook seems best for northeast Colorado as a weak front moves south -- the main jet stream energy remains well to the north and major severe weather could develop today in western Montana then Tuesday in border regions of ND but mainly into Canada, this of course too far north for the team's interest I would think, but this other feature will at least have some upslope potential when the windshift moves into the region between Colorado Springs and Limon CO. Slight risk of a cell or two developing near the KS-NE border also. Should be good visibility with anything that develops as cells will be isolated in an otherwise rather dry environment.
