Low wall cloud with near surface rotation 3 miles east of Mineral Wells, just south of the 180.

Close to on the ground.

Your cell now has a debris signature by the looks of things - dangerous situation as it trundles towards the Dallas metro area at 8mph.

The news from around the area keeps coming in - a number of fatalities being reported and 14 people unaccounted for, a very nasty outbreak, including a 1 mile wide wedge that looks like it took an unexpected shift in direction catching people unaware.  A sobering end to the day, that illustrates just how dangerous these storms can be.

SPC reports have some catching up to do it seems. The main observation about yesterday evening is how a 'text' risk can turn into a 'slight' risk and then specific tornado watch in only a matter of hours when parameters change as quickly as they did yesterday.
A brief lull before more potentially tornadic episodes over the weekend, with Sunday looking potentially interesting.

The development of the main cluster of cells on a line about 50 miles further east than I originally predicted was a surprise, but the tornadic circulation within many of the cells was not as the set-up was there for all to see in RAP updates from yesterday morning onwards.

Awful loss of life and my thoughts, as always, go out to those affected.

Texas tornadoes leave many dead

Several people have died and at least 100 have been injured after storms and tornadoes hit towns across north Texas

Most of the fatalities were believed to be in the picturesque lakeside town Granbury, 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth, which was hit by a possible tornado. Hood County sheriff's Lt. Kathy Jiveden said there were multiple fatalities, but she had no estimate of dead or the number of homes destroyed.

Officers "are going house to house" looking for residents trapped, injured or dead in the rubble of demolished homes near Lake Granbury, she said. There were reports of homes being flattened with people still inside. Hardest hit were two neighborhoods, Rancho Brazos Estates and DeCordova Ranch, in the southern end of the town of about 8,000 residents. Evacuations were underway in the town.

The emergency came as large swaths of the state were under a tornado watch. KDFW-TV said a line of storms was moving across north Texas and spawning tornadoes that were damaging homes. The bad weather was brining heavy rain and hail "the size of grapefruits".

The National Weather Service warned that a mile-wide tornado was moving "right at the city of Cleburne," a community of about 15,000 people in north Texas. "If you are in its path ... take cover immediately to protect your life," the weather service alert said. The town's mayor said dozens of homes were destroyed or damaged by the bad weather. The Morning News newspaper said 37 flights had been diverted from Dallas/Fort Worth airport. Another tornado hit the small town of Millsap, about 40 miles west of Fort Worth. An average of 132 tornadoes hit Texas each year

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
