We are on I40 at Shawnee. So if GPS is accurate you are perhaps 15 mins behind us

I40 blocked west of Shawnee. Possibly tornado related. Detour if you can

Lots of damage and blocked roads. It seems we were about 15 minutes behind the Shawnee 'nad all the way.

Still stuck in this i40 jam. So hope you got off on time.

Caught 4 tornadoes in the end. We were on the Edmond one that dropped a lovely cone, then had one go up over our head as we tracked that east. Saw the wedge from the Carney cell and then dropped south for the Norman cell. That was hard work getting held up by every red light in the town and road closures. Finally caught it though as it was going NW of the town

Guys, I was reading on a U.S. forum that Bethel Acres which is about 2 miles west of downtown Shawnee sustained heavy damage, but from the radar I think the worst of the tornado crossed the I-40 about 3-4 miles west of the Shawnee exit and then headed east just to the north of the interstate. Moderate damage was reported at the Shawnee interchange ... now there's one lucky town when you think back to Joplin and the similar hook echo F4, just a matter of a few miles.

Yes it looks like the i40 jam is tornado related. Just saw a car in a field with its hazard lights flashing.

Although we left 3 hours after the team we were still lucky enough to get some thing from the day.

 

Didnt see a tornado ,as we were following in its tracks even passed the storm prediction Centre .

 

 

roads were dangerous and every road we wanted to go down was either blocked by trees, down power lines or police,
