75 children trapped in the debris. Shocking, could go down as one of the worst ever this.

Tornado on Mike Gribble's stream...

Worst thing is is it's rain-wrapped, heading across the interstate 35 and heading directly towards Paul's Valley Posted Image

There are tornadic supercells in a line from Kansas City to south of Abilene, TX. Quite incredible.

Yep, just been swapping messages with Arron.  I'm not sure how aware they are of what has happened in Moore

It is certainly shocking isn't it. I am booked on tour 4 and it is a very sobering and scary thought that I will be there in 9 days. I have a huge mix of feelings right now... firstly shock, horror and sorrow for those affected. I would never wish this or anything like it on anyone. Yet the scientist in me is conflicting those feelings because I want to see and experience this awesome natural phenomena and I know that me being there won't make a jot of difference.

I have to say that if I were totally honest... I am not particularly looking forward to going now. When I booked the chase holiday I hadn't really figured on it being like this. Of course, I know these storms are dangerous and that they can kill but when it actually happens it puts everything in a totally different perspective.

Pauls Valley storm has weakened rapidly, tornadic supercell 30 west of Ardmore heading ENE, estimated impact on I-35 near or north of Ardmore 45 min (2300z, 6 pm CDT). The way this one is fluctuating, could be as weak as F1 or as strong as F4 at that point.

Moore got hit very hard a few years ago, 1999 I think it was, hundreds died in that one, so you would think everyone there was pretty tornado-aware. I gather that today's events were on a rather fast development cycle, wasn't home watching at the time.

Jeez! they were incredibly lucky! How could a school in Oklahoma not have a storm shelter that's terrible :(

Update for chasers ... tornadic cells 20W and 50WSW of Ardmore, first one likely to cross I-35 around 2255z near Ardmore, second one about 2340z 10-15 south Ardmore near OK-TX border bridge over Lake Texoma.

Second cell currently appears stronger on radar but both are cycling and interacting. High risk of F3-4 out of one or both of these.

The cell developed a large tornado about 25 mins after initiation and continued to produce a tornado for 40+ minutes along approx 20 mile path.

The damage path is very significant Roger, and as bad if not worse than May 3rd 1999. Fatalities will likely increase in number as the night goes on.The situation in C OK may be easing a bit now but the storms down near Ardmore need watching.

Slightly out of their way but there is a cell eyeing up Forth Worth that may need watching. Don't have any decent radar imagery but it looks potent enough
