Myself, my wife, a best friend from school and his wife went to Lech in 1970.........................................but we went in the summer to take advantage of the location at its cheapest 🏔️ for rambling and climbing. We were well impressed - Gruss Gott!aaScan-140403-0013.thumb.jpg.59792565618bb2dd6074fed6baa9fc44.jpgaScan-140403-0014.thumb.jpg.a3bec17a423c0dfb992800689506a13e.jpgaScan-140403-0019.thumb.jpg.ea4e68952f7279be33f460244c4125f6.jpgaScan-140403-0021.thumb.jpg.4e90a67bb042de2ef392e0166b15d136.jpgaScan-140403-0023.thumb.jpg.b086b2ce694df0fac89a01c5e3f93032.jpgIROstRZ.thumb.jpg.a4955a08e4b21390d4b6b329dc662a9d.jpgOstrioRZ.thumb.jpg.bc7887c80e40b46fa84fcc62663af0f3.jpgScan-140403-0010b.thumb.jpg.59e1a213307daed59fa57193a424c2a1.jpgScan-140403-0015.thumb.jpg.8fe7146d251a8937d0a28b7a6f4ac236.jpgScan-140403-0016.thumb.jpg.63bd8bfa3704399a3ce3ce8c4a88bbe1.jpg

carinthian Thanks for kind words about photos, carinthian.

It may interest camera geeks that these were originally Kodachrome Transparency (slides) taken by the then legendary cheap 35mm camera made in Hong Kong by Halina and costing around £10-12.

By sheer chance, the first photo of my former classmate on the Mohnenfluh summit also shows that Austria gave me one of the best photos of Cirrus Uncinus (hooked cirrus) possible.

Just checked outside. Still snowing heavy and now blowing about. Currently 25cm . Reports of many high routes impassable due to snowfall. Possible 200 cm by tomorrow at 2000m level. Avalanche warning i force across Salzburgerland with flood warnings lower down. I personally have never seen this amount of snowfall so early. The Polar Air certainly packing a punch .

Good Morning. Woke up to more snow. Continuous now for 30 hours. Temp in village 0.4c , snow depth 30cm at 1300m, 50cm at 1600m and 60cm plus at 1900m  and probabaly 100cm plus at 2200m on berg top. This is turning out to be one of the heaviest September snowfalls on record above 1000m . The picture taken about an hour a go.

Rush2019 Yes, crazy weather. The news over here is full of flooding pictures and will get worse when this lot starts to melt during the week as it drains into Lower Austria and other Central European river connections.

Morning all. This current view of the Salzburg Mountains show very little snow. Yesterday recorded the highest max and min temp for any November recorded on the local mountains above 2500m. Quite amazingly this morning the frost level is at 4000m !
