No sun, just a very stubborn inversion...

Cloud is breaking up a bit, good stretches of sunshine but a tad chilly when the clouds pass over.. That northeasterly breeze is keeping it cooler though as it has all week. It's actually been warmer back home in Ireland than here for once!

If anything, the cloud sheet seems to be getting thicker...

Good afternoon all from what is a fairly sunny Nw London. It took until around midday for the cloud to break up to any extent, but since then some decent sunny spells have allowed the mercury to rise to 16.8c. As Crimson Sunset said in the post above though, its that near constant pesky north easterly wind which is spoling things. It feels as though it has been with us more or less since the beginning of the year.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Posted Image

Lovely day here, sunny skies but quite a cool, brisk NE breeze again. Still, in the sun feels a lot warmer than the 18C it actually is.

This is very reminiscent of those ghastly easterlies that set in in early April: dry, dull and not all that warm...Surely tomorrow won't be as bad?

Oh dear! Just checked the NW forecast, and it's for wall-to-wall sunshine...When did Ken Ring become Chief Forecaster...Posted Image

Well stuck at 16.5 the cloud try's to break but soon fills in again. I spent ages last night putting up a 9m by 3m party tent for the daughters 15th birthday and that winds was a real pain (one due to weather) and today there are still some interesting gusts at time.  Plenty of plastic tape has been added to the structure so taking it down should be good fun later this eveningPosted Image

11C is a good enough temp for mid-March; we ARE in March aren't we?

Sometimes I really hate living in this part of the UK!

Here's a genuine question for the more knowledgeable amongst us. What is causing this seemingly endless feed of north easterly winds ? The question was asked on another weather website ( which shall remain nameless ) just recently, and quite frankly I couldn't make head nor tale of the answer. Something about 'super geostraphic winds'  and centifugal force, at which point my eyes glazed over. Can anyone offer a laymans explanation please ?

In the meantime, almost clear blue skies here are doing their best to deliver a pleasant early summer evening, but the wind conspires to do the opposite.

Another awful day, the worst WARM spell of the year so far...

14C was a max in canterbury, cloudy and a keen north east/east wind.

Its been yet another beautiful day - deep blue skies, strong unbroken sunshine, a pleasant easterly breeze and comfortable temperatures. Ideal summer weather for me and it was a great afternoon for being outdoorsPosted Image

The return of south westerly winds next week will end the brilliant sunshine, although hopefully there won't be too much rain

Been a dull old day with only a hint of sunshine. There's an old saying which says;

The English summer is three fine days and a thunder storm.

Well, we've had the three fine days....now where's the ruddy thunder storm???

At least it was warm for the BBQ but it started blowing a hooligan and we had to retire inside to eat.

my thoughts looking a tad further ahead are after friday we could see a battle between the azores high

and low pressure systems trying to get to us

maybe see a warmer spell with the odd heavy shower or storm mixed in

after that i have a feeling the jet will dive south of us (after the 16th)

how long for is anyones guess

really need these to go positive again

hopefully i am wrong with this

Guess what? Dull, grey, windy and cold again. I doubt we"ll get above 12C again today. According to Met Office, we might see the sun briefly on Tuesday afternoon. An epic "warm spell" indeed for East Norfolk!
