Patchy cloud here this morning, with the sun starting to break through. Looks like it's going to be another pleasant day for outdoor activities... It could be another 4-7 weeks before i get my weather station up and running again.

Mostly cloudy but bright - really really need it to clear now if I'm going to get the chance of a bbq later or the yard won't be warm enough! Getting tempted to fill that damn North Sea in with concrete!

It is now well broken here but a chilly breeze on so anytime the sun does go it certainly doesn't feel warm! Think the bbq will be an eat and head inside job I feel...

A cloudfest here - that vile low cloud has increased. Will give up on the bbq idea. This 'sunny' spell has not really been good enough round here with only 50% of the days being properly sunny. Nor has it been warm enough.

Time for a change now!

patience botty I reckon the afternoon will give you the warmth in sufficient quantity, at any rate for a young lad like you, put a sweater on laddie!

Sadly I receive no sunlight into my house nor the half of the yard not covered in plants after 12:30 or so. If it clears at 1 the plants can enjoy it (good!) but it'll do nothing to warm it up for a bbq other than lift ambient air temps. Of course that will help but I really wanted the sun to 'charge' the house/tiles/brickwork in the morning so it felt warmer out. It's that re-radiative effect that often makes it feel warmer outside in the evenings than inside!

We'll still do the bbq but yes think the cardigans will be out!

Loads of folks in town in shorts/little skirts looking awfully chilly! 14.9c....

Looking at the 00z Watnall ascent and 16C suggests that St CuSc that have been created under the marked inversion should clear with temperatures of 16C. If you use XC Weather and look at temperatures almost all stations with that figure have cleared the cloud. If you look at the sat picc visual I suggested yesterday and it is obvious that a lot of cloud developed overnight and much of it has a slightly 'lumpy' appearance. This suggests it is the inversion causing the delay in shifting it. A slower process than either I or UK Met envisaged last evening or indeed first thing this morning before the visual satellite became available.

Looking at the latest visual sat picc, the part that is available for this area, and I suspect that the upper air will show a bit different at Watnall come the 12z sounding. Possibly the inversion height has increased judging from some of the cloud heights being reported and the reluctance of the cloud sheet to break.

well at last the cloud broke about 1 hour ago and now mainly sunny but as Pit mentions a chilly breeze out of the sun-not my idea of evening B-B-Q weather for sure. Need dewpoints in double figures for that.
