Drove from Salina to be in Chadron by 5pm today, waited it out whilst the Supercells were ongoing in Wyoming and the waiting paid off with a Lone LP Supercell that formed on the end of a line of mush just west of Alliance (Nebraska)

This storm rapidly gained a tornado warning and the rotation cranked up a few funnel clouds but no tornadoes were sighted from our vantage point just NE Of the Storm North of Alliance on Highway 385.

The same road screwed us over a bit when we were literally 1 mile from the updraught at darkness, visually what we saw was insane with a corkscrew updraught and beavers tail but pictures could not take it in as we were too close.

Some Golf Ball hail started hitting the car so aborted south and ended the day in Scotts Bluff

High risk issued for Chicago region, very strong MCS anticipated from the same system as above when it crosses IA, IL and IN later today. Wave is continuing to deepen and will eventually reach 990 mb tonight in Ohio then Pennsylvania.

Major tornadic risk about 50-100 miles south of Chicago in an east-west corridor but risk extends into the metropolitan area there, further north very heavy rains likely to develop across northern half of Chicago metro and most of southern Michigan by this evening and overnight.

This system will probably wash out play at the U.S. Open golf tournament in PA on Thursday (so there's another live TV viewing option for you severe storm enthusiasts).

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
